About Somercotes Family Dental Centre
Somercotes Family Dental Centre sits on Lower Somercotes, in the older, original heart of this former Derbyshire coal-mining village between Alfreton and Ripley. We’re an NHS and private dental practice, and we’re currently welcoming new patients of all ages.
Our position just off the B600 (Nottingham Road) puts us within easy reach of families across Somercotes, Leabrooks, Riddings, Pye Bridge and Ironville. Trentbarton buses run along the B600 between Alfreton and Nottingham, and there’s a frequent service from Somercotes High Street to Alfreton railway station a couple of miles away — so it’s straightforward to reach us with or without a car.
We know a trip to the dentist isn’t top of anyone’s list. Whether you’re booking a routine dental check-up or finally sorting something you’ve been putting off, our team explains what’s going on in plain English and works at a pace that feels right for you.
To register or book, call 01773 609543 or use our contact form. You can see the full range of treatments we offer and read more about registering as a new patient — we’d be glad to look after you and your family.

Great check up today. Emmanuel the dentist is friendly and informative. Ayesha the nurse was lovely too. I had an X-ray and clean. Both carefully done and explained X-ray to me afterwards. Thank you. Just to add I haven’t been to a dentist in 7 years..lost my place at my dentist just after Covid after being with them for nearly 50 years. I also get anxious worrying in case I need any treatment. So I’m grateful to have found a nice, local NHS dentist 😁

I am very happy with my dental practice! The staff is very kind, professional and helpful. Both my boys through the years needed urgent attention and were cared for with patience and professionalism! The same applies for me and my husband. The doctors’ cabinets are very clean and well equipped. So grateful! Thank you!!!!!

I hadn’t had an NHS dentist for almost 5 years prior to being registered with this practice therefore I was a little apprehensive on my first visit. I needed had been at all, Dr Bardia and Jemma went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable whilst staying professional throughout. I was able to make my own choices in treatment and was never forced to do anything I wasn’t comfortable in doing. Very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Throughout my treatment both Dr Bardia and Jemma have been perfect in every way possible. They always greet me with a smile and friendly gesture. The treatment I have received and continue to receive is yet by far the best treatment I have received in my dental experience up to date. Highly recommend and thank you Out of 5 stars I would definitely give 6
